I am a graduate of Art History and Archaeology, a field that has profoundly shaped my understanding and appreciation of artistic expressions across different cultures and eras. My early career was marked by enriching experiences working in short-term exhibitions, where I had the opportunity to engage closely with diverse art forms and their historical contexts.
Driven by a deep-seated passion for art, I later pursued studies in Fashion Design, a discipline that allowed me to explore my creativity through textiles. This blend of art history and fashion design has become the cornerstone of my artistic journey, enabling me to produce unique artworks that bridge the past and the present.
In my artistic practice, I place a strong emphasis on the element of line, a fundamental building block of art that forms the core of my artworks and designs. Lines, meticulously embroidered with stitches, serve as the main theme, creating intricate and expressive compositions that reveal both the simplicity and complexity of this essential art element. Color also plays a vital role in my work, adding depth, emotion, and vibrancy. Through the dynamic interplay of line and hue, I explore the intersection of art, design, and craft in innovative ways.
As a textile artist, I continue to create contemporary textile art and artisan textile products at my studio, PEITTO. Specializing in experimental fabric collage my creations merge art, design, and craftsmanship. Each piece is handcrafted and unique, ensuring exclusivity and distinction with no mass production involved.
As a Cypriot, I live in Ankara, Turkey, with my husband and our cat Marcel Mujdat. Through my art, I aim to inspire, evoke emotions, and connect with people on a deeper level, celebrating the timeless beauty and endless possibilities of textiles.
